Welcome to my Sharing Excellent ICT Practice in Hampshire website
Not indeed the catchiest of headings, but it hopefully does what it says on the tin! Hampshire is one of the third largest Local Authorities in the United Kingdom and I believe becoming one of best for it’s work in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). As Primary ICT ASTs, Emma Goto, Phil Bagge and myself all have a variety of different expertise in ICT. Our common aim is to help schools improve and become more confident in their use of ICT. There are a huge amount of schools in Hampshire who are demonstrating so many excellent uses of ICT.
As ASTs we are extremely fortunate and privileged to work with so many schools across the whole of Hampshire. There are so many examples of good practice going on but so often we do not promote these or celebrate them. Are you stuck for an idea? or want some inspiration? or just some direction? Hopefully, this website should go a little way to helping you out and improving I this. You'll be able to find out about many of the projects ASTs have been working on as well as access resources you might find useful to use.
ICT has the capacity to engage, motivate, extend, challenge and support all children regardless of ability. Often we as teachers are the people running to catch up with them and extend our own thinking. As more and more children in our schools push the ICT boundaries of what is capable it so challenges us in the type of curriculum we now provide for them. A flexible way to learning is now becoming one of the prerequisites for the 21st Century learner and ICT is right up there as one of the core skills they will need.
So feel free to explore this website and borrow ideas to use with the children in your class and school. Don't forget that if you have a project you are working on or examples of good practice then please contact me and tell me about it. Finally, remember to use the HIAS ICT Moodle. Many of the resources have been written by the Lead ICT Teachers, ASTs and Inspectors/Advisors.
